U 390 - Cornwall & Devon
The U 390, a German U-boat sunk in 1944, lies upright in 43 metres of water off the coast. It’s a substantial dive, 67 metres long, still very much a submarine shape. We’ve found the conning tower still identifiable, and the pressure hull is largely intact, though age and depth charges have taken their toll. Expect to see plenty of pollack and conger eels making homes in the dark recesses, along with the usual invertebrate suspects like dead man's fingers. This dive is best for experienced wreck divers comfortable with deep, dark conditions and the chill of the North Atlantic.
