    StandoutExceptional marine biodiversity

The UB-78, a German U-boat sunk in 1918, lies broken but still recognisable off the coast of Cornwall. It’s a classic UK wreck dive, dark and moody, sitting around 35-40 metres. You’ll find the conning tower has detached, resting beside the main hull, giving a good sense of the sheer force involved in its sinking. Inside, if you’re properly trained and equipped for overhead environments, there’s a surprising amount to see, from torpedo tubes to the engine room, often with conger eels peering out from shadowy corners. This is definitely one for experienced cold-water wreck enthusiasts who appreciate history as much as marine life.

    Safety Notes

Wreck site - avoid penetration without wreck diving certification. Watch for sharp metal and entanglement hazards.
