UC 16 - Cornwall & Devon
The UC 16, resting at 48 meters off the Cornish coast, is a dive for those who appreciate a bit of history and a decent bottom time. This German U-boat, sunk in 1917, is largely intact, offering a glimpse into early 20th-century submarine warfare. You can make out the torpedo tubes and parts of the conning tower, now well-colonised by plumose anemones and dead man's fingers. It's a sombre, quiet dive, often visited by inquisitive conger eels and schools of bib. Expect cold water and plan for decompression. Definitely one for experienced divers comfortable with deeper wreck penetration.
