Y48 - Cornwall & Devon
The Y48, a tanker sunk in 1945, rests at 52 metres off the Cornwall and Devon coast. She’s a decent sized wreck, originally built in Maryland, now home to plenty of local UK marine life. Expect to find conger eels tucked into her machinery, especially in the engine room, and schools of pollock swimming above the superstructure. It's a deep dive, definitely one for experienced wreck divers comfortable with colder water and limited visibility, but the Y48 offers a genuine piece of wartime history to explore.
