BUSAC, based out of Bangor University, offers a good entry point for PADI training in the often-overlooked waters of Northumberland and the Northeast. We’ve found their instructors to be pretty sound, focused on getting new divers comfortable with the cooler water temperatures and variable visibility common in the UK. If you're a student looking to get certified without breaking the bank, or just want to dip your toes into UK diving, they're a solid choice. They really excel at building that foundational confidence, which is key before you start venturing to some of the area's more exposed sites.
