SPEEDBIRD - Northumberland & Northeast

The Speedbird, a 7.2m aluminium fishing vessel, sits upright on the seabed at 21 meters, a relatively shallow dive for a decent wreck in the Northeast. It’s a compact wreck, but because it’s so intact, it offers plenty to explore for its size, especially for divers keen on penetration. We’ve found the wheelhouse accessible, and you can duck into the hold too, which often houses a decent-sized cod or a couple of inquisitive wrasse. Currents can pick up, so we’d suggest timing your dive for slack water to make the most of it, especially if you plan on getting inside.
