SPORTSMAN - Northumberland & Northeast

The Sportsman, sitting at a mere two metres deep, offers a remarkably accessible wreck experience just off Taylors Bank. It’s a site that tells a story, a sailing vessel that met its end near the C2 buoy and now lies in pieces across the sand. While you won't be penetrating dark corridors, you can trace the scattered timbers, imagining the ship's original form as you weave through the wreckage. It’s a fantastic spot for newer divers looking to get their first taste of a wreck, or for photographers keen to capture the light playing on the barnacle-encrusted remains. Expect to find crabs scuttling amongst the plates and small fish darting between the broken ribs of the vessel.
