Wreck of Unnamed Shipwreck - Canmore 101653 - Northumberland & Northeast
Diving a "wreck of an unnamed shipwreck" might sound a bit vague, but trust us, the Canmore 101653 off Northumberland is anything but. This site has a real sense of mystery. We love exploring what's left of her; parts of the structure are still fairly intact, giving you genuine holds to peek into, imagining what was once carried below deck. You’ll find sections of plating, ribs, and machinery scattered across the seabed, offering plenty of nooks and crannies. The North Sea here has a knack for encrusting everything in a thick carpet of plumose anemones, and this wreck is no exception. Expect to see their white tentacles swaying gently in the current, creating a stark contrast against the dark metal. We’ve also found plenty of lobsters tucked into crevices, along with inquisitive wrasse flitting around the edges. Visibility can be hit or miss – it’s the North East after all – but when it's good, the sheer scale of the debris field becomes apparent. This dive suits those who appreciate historical context and don't mind a proper rummage. Come prepared for cooler water and the occasional strong current.
