EDINBOUNE - Scapa Flow, Orkney

Edinboune. If you’re here, it’s because you’ve likely spent time on Scapa’s big wrecks, and now you’re looking for something different, something quieter. We found her almost by accident, a little drifter off the beaten path, sitting upright and surprisingly intact at 27 metres. Dropping down onto her, you get that immediate sense of history, a working boat caught in time, not a warship. Her wooden structure means she’s softening now, but the stern, with its rudder still in place, offers a great swim-through into the hold. Inside, we found plenty of squat lobsters tucked into the nooks, and a lazy ling often makes an appearance, peering out from beneath a collapsed beam. Our favourite part is the bow, where the anchor chain still spills out, draped in plumose anemones that pulse gently with the surge. Visibility here can be glorious on a calm day, giving you that wide-angle view of her elegant lines. Edinboune is a dive for those who appreciate the smaller details, the quiet stories, and aren't afraid to go looking for them.
