ENERGY - Scapa Flow, Orkney
The Energy, a salvage vessel, rests at 56 metres near Risa Island in Long Hope. It’s a proper dive for those comfortable with deeper wrecks and a bit of current, which can sometimes sweep through. We've found the visibility here can be decent on a good day, allowing you to appreciate the scale of the vessel as you descend. Look for the way the structure is slowly being absorbed by the seabed; the metalwork provides shelter for small crabs and nudibranchs, and we’ve often seen schooling fish hovering above the decks. It's a sombre, quiet dive, appealing to divers who appreciate a wreck's history and the way the sea reclaims it.
