H 145 - Scapa Flow, Orkney
The H 145, a German destroyer scuttled in 1919, lies in a shallow 7 metres of water in Scapa Flow. This site is quite literally a tangled mess of metal, but that’s its charm. We found it a fantastic spot for divers new to wreck diving or those looking for a relaxed, longer bottom time. The destroyer is heavily broken up, with plates and girders scattered across the seabed, creating interesting swim-throughs and plenty of nooks for small crabs and blennies. Visibility here often exceeds expectations, especially on a calm day, letting you really take your time examining the wreck’s fragmented structure.
