HMS Lynx sits deep in Scapa Flow, a real diver’s wreck at 54 metres. We love the challenge here, the sense of history that comes with every fin kick. Descending, the light fades quickly, giving way to the stark outline of the destroyer, upright and mostly intact. You’ll feel the chill of the North Sea, even in summer, but the visibility can be surprisingly good, sometimes pushing 15 metres. This isn’t a colourful coral dive; it’s about the steel, the structure, and the story. The Lynx’s bridge is a particular highlight, still recognisable despite over a century on the seabed. We often find conger eels peering from portholes, their thick bodies camouflaged against the dark metal. Ling also patrol the deeper sections of the wreck, sometimes curious enough to approach. For experienced wreck divers comfortable with depth and dark, this is a truly rewarding site, a sombre monument to a different era. We’d suggest a sidemount configuration for easier internal exploration, if you're qualified and the conditions are calm enough.
