MISS CECILIA - Scapa Flow, Orkney

The Miss Cecilia, a trawler that ran aground in '76, offers a surprisingly rewarding dive for its shallow depth. You'll find her sitting upright at 12 metres, close to the shore, which makes for a straightforward entry. What we love about her is how accessible everything is – you can poke around the superstructure, peer into the holds, and really get a feel for the vessel. The light penetration here is often fantastic, even on a cloudy day, picking out the details of the hull and the rocky seabed around her. This isn't a deep, dark wreck, but a bright, engaging one. Shoals of small fish often dart through the skeletal remains, and we’ve spotted plenty of crabs and lobsters tucked into every nook and cranny. It's an excellent site for photographers, especially if you’re keen on macro shots or capturing the interplay of light and wreck. Our favourite time to dive her is on a calm day with good visibility; it just brings out the best in the site. She’s perfect for divers wanting a relaxed dive with plenty to explore without the demands of stronger currents or deeper water.
