NORSEMANS BRIDE - Scapa Flow, Orkney

Norseman’s Bride sits shallow, just seven metres down, a wooden fishing vessel that went aground in 1975. You drop onto a wreck completely transformed by Scapa Flow’s cold, nutrient-rich water. We love a site where nature has truly taken over, and this is a prime example. The timbers are thick with plumose anemones, their white tentacles swaying in the gentle surge, making the wreck look almost fuzzy. As you fin around the remains, you’ll spot wrasse picking through the structure, and crabs scuttling amongst the growth. It’s a site for quiet exploration, poking around the ribs of the hull, imagining the boat’s last moments. Our favourite part is finding the engine block, still identifiable amongst the marine life, a real testament to its past. This wreck is perfect for photographers who appreciate the texture and colour of a mature artificial reef, or anyone looking for a relaxed, fascinating dive after exploring Scapa's deeper, steel giants. It’s a softer side of Scapa Flow diving, and a genuinely pretty one.
