REGENT BIRD - Scapa Flow, Orkney
The Regent Bird, a trawler sunk back in 1995, offers something a little different for a Scapa Flow dive. It ran aground and was abandoned, so you're exploring a wreck that met its end more by misadventure than battle. Sitting in just a meter of water, it’s a brilliant snorkel or very shallow dive for those looking to potter about in the shallows. We've seen plenty of crabs scuttling over the remains, and the skeletal structure of the boat is now home to various small fish. It’s a good option if you want a relaxed explore without the deep commitments of the bigger blockships.
