REMUERA - Scapa Flow, Orkney

The Remuera, down at 57 metres, is one of Scapa's deeper attractions, and we think it's often overlooked in favour of the German High Seas Fleet. Don't make that mistake. This isn't a destroyer, it's a huge New Zealand Shipping Company liner, torpedoed in 1940. When you descend, that immense scale hits you straight away. The bow section is particularly impressive, with anchor chains still leading out into the murk. We love exploring the cargo holds, vast spaces where you can imagine provisions for a distant war effort. Visibility here can be a bit variable, but on a good day, the sheer size of the wreck is just immense. Look for the prop, it’s still there, a real highlight. The Remuera is a great dive for those comfortable with depth and who appreciate the stories a wreck can tell beyond its wartime demise. It's a proper adventure, a different flavour of Scapa Flow diving, and always our pick for a second deep dive after one of the big boys.
