SMIT-LLOYD 47 - Scapa Flow, Orkney
The SMIT-LLOYD 47, a tug that found its resting place in 1979, isn't one of Scapa's deep-water giants. We're talking maximum three metres here, so it's a brilliant site for newer wreck divers or anyone who fancies a long, shallow potter. You’ll spend most of your time exploring the superstructure, which is still largely intact, and poking around the wheelhouse. It's a proper playground for crabs and squat lobsters; look closely in the nooks and crannies. We’ve found the best light is usually mid-morning, when the sun can really illuminate the wreck, making it a great spot for photography too.
