SMS Cöln, Scapa Flow (Wreck) - Scapa Flow, Orkney
The SMS Cöln, one of the smaller cruisers in Scapa Flow, offers a fantastic introduction to the German High Seas Fleet. Lying on her port side at 31 metres, she’s largely intact, making for an engaging dive. You can swim down her starboard side, spotting large anemones and the occasional inquisitive wrasse that have made the wreck their home. The open deck areas are great for exploring, particularly for newer wreck divers keen to get a feel for a big, historic ship without too many complex penetrations. We’d suggest keeping an eye out for the resident crabs tucked into crevices.
