SORIANO - Scapa Flow, Orkney
Soriano isn't one of Scapa Flow's show-stopping battleships, but it’s an excellent choice if you’re looking for a shallower wreck with plenty of character. This blockship, sunk intentionally in 1917, now lies broken up in around 5 meters of water, making it a good spot for newer divers or those wanting a longer bottom time. We found her plates and ribs spread across the seabed, creating countless nooks and crannies that are home to wrasse, blennies, and often a decent number of squat lobsters if you look closely. It’s a great site for photographers keen on macro subjects, or just a relaxed exploration of a piece of Scapa Flow’s history.
