The Trident, oh, she’s a melancholic beauty in Scapa Flow. We love this wreck for its sheer presence and the poignant story it tells. Sunk in 1974 with all seven crew, there's a quiet respect that settles over you as you descend onto her deck. At 56 metres, this is definitely one for the experienced wreck divers, and a drysuit is non-negotiable – the water here bites. You’ll find her upright and largely intact, a testament to her robust build. Her stern is particularly striking, often adorned with dense shoals of coalfish darting through the superstructure. Visibility can be excellent, and on a good day, the light filters down through the green gloom, illuminating parts of the wheelhouse and the gaping holds. We always take a moment to peer into the crew quarters, imagining the lives lived aboard. It’s a proper expedition, a delve into history that stays with you long after the deco stops are done. Just remember to check the local tides; Scapa Flow can throw a curveball if you’re not paying attention.
