Wreck of Concordia - Scapa Flow, Orkney

Dropping onto the *Concordia* in Scapa Flow, there’s an immediate sense of history, a chill that has nothing to do with the water temperature. This isn't a colourful reef dive, it’s an exploration into the past, and we love it for its stark beauty. The wreck lies well-preserved, her structure still largely intact, a testament to the cold, dark embrace of the Flow. As you descend, the sheer size of her reveals itself, a ghostly silhouette against the perpetual twilight. We’d suggest bringing a good torch, not just for penetration, but to really illuminate the details on the deck and within the holds. You’ll spot the huge propeller, often encrusted with anemones, and the various winches and machinery that still hint at her working life. Small cod and wrasse flit through the skeletal remains, making their homes amongst the twisted metal. Exploring the *Concordia* feels like stepping into a time capsule, a quiet, contemplative dive best suited for those who appreciate maritime history and the unique atmosphere of a cold-water wreck. It’s certainly one of our favourites in Scapa Flow for its evocative feel.
