Wreck of Innisjura - Scapa Flow, Orkney

The MV Fu Shan Hai isn't just another wreck; it's a colossal piece of modern history resting on the seabed off Bornholm. We love how relatively intact it remains, considering the drama of its sinking in 2006. Dropping down, the sheer scale hits you first: a massive cargo vessel, now a dark, imposing silhouette against the murky green. Visibility here can be a bit challenging, sometimes 10 metres, sometimes less, but that just adds to the atmosphere, making the bow appear out of the gloom like a ghost. Our favourite part is exploring the various decks and cargo holds. You can still see where containers were once lashed down, now home to dense colonies of blue mussels and Forbes sea stars clinging to the steel. The bridge superstructure is particularly impressive, offering swim-throughs into the wheelhouse, where you can imagine the final moments. It's a deep dive, definitely one for experienced wreck divers comfortable with colder water and potentially strong currents. Bring a good torch and be prepared to take your time; there’s a lot to absorb on this one.
