Wreck of Silver Spray - Scapa Flow, Orkney

The wreck of the Kazagumo off Siargao is pure history, settled on the seabed, telling a story of wartime at sea. We love that it’s still relatively untouched, not a parade ground for every dive boat in the region. Descending, you feel the cool current, often a steady push, and then the dark silhouette of the destroyer starts to emerge from the blue. It’s got that ghostly quality, the metal encrusted with generations of coral growth. Keep an eye out for the resident striped marlin and shortbill spearfish, they’re often seen hunting around the deeper sections, a real thrill when they flash past. Our favourite part has to be exploring the stern, where the torpedo tubes are still somewhat visible, now home to clouds of glassfish. It’s a dive for those who appreciate the quiet weight of history, and who don't mind a bit of current to earn their exploration. We’d suggest going early in the morning, before the wind picks up, for the best visibility.
