The *Loch Buie* is one of Scapa Flow's lesser-dived German High Seas Fleet wrecks, and honestly, we think that’s a shame. This destroyer really shows her age, broken into several sections, but that just means more nooks for exploration. Dropping down, you’ll find sections of the bow and stern still relatively intact, lying on their sides. We love finning through the debris field between them, where the deck plating has peeled back like tin foil. Visibility can be a real mixed bag here, sometimes a decent 10 metres, sometimes a silty five, so check the local conditions. Despite the cold, the marine life is surprisingly vibrant. Keep an eye out for colourful beadlet anemones clinging to the metal, and we always spot butterfish darting in and out of the twisted frames. It's not a pristine, intact ship, but the *Loch Buie* tells a powerful story of time and the sea reclaiming history. It’s a great dive for those who appreciate the slower, more contemplative wreck exploration.

    Safety Notes

Wreck site - avoid penetration without wreck diving certification. Watch for sharp metal and entanglement hazards.

Cold water this month (avg 13°C). Drysuit or thick wetsuit (7mm+) recommended.
