Wreck of Unnamed Shipwreck - Canmore 101803 - Scapa Flow, Orkney

We love diving the 'unnamed' wrecks of Scapa Flow. This one, Canmore 101803, might not have a famous name attached, but it’s still a fantastic piece of history, and often far less crowded than the German High Seas Fleet giants. Dropping down onto it, the sheer scale of the metal, twisted and encrusted, always hits you. It’s not about identifying every last detail; it’s about the feeling of exploring a lost vessel, the light filtering through the Orkney green water, revealing shadowy interiors. This site is perfect for divers who appreciate the atmospheric side of wreck diving. You’ll find plenty of nooks and crannies to peer into, often revealing a resident conger eel or a school of pollock darting through. The anemones here are surprisingly vibrant, clinging to the rust-coloured plates. Our favourite approach is to take it slow, really soaking in the quiet reverence of the place. It’s a dive that rewards curiosity and a good dive torch. Just remember, Scapa can have a decent chop on the surface and the currents are no joke, so pick your day carefully.
