Alright, let’s talk about that unnamed wreck, Canmore 101804, lurking in Scapa Flow. It’s exactly the kind of dive we love when we’re up in Orkney, a genuine piece of history that’s been reclaimed by the sea. Dropping down, the first thing you notice is the sheer scale, especially if visibility is playing ball; the hull plates are thick, substantial, a testament to its original engineering. What we really enjoy here is the way the wreck has become a sort of artificial reef. You’ll weave through the skeletal remains, often finding conger eels peering from dark nooks, their eyes glinting in your torch beam. Look closely for the nudibranchs, they're surprisingly varied against the muted colours of the steel. Our favourite part has to be exploring the open cargo holds, imagining the goods that once filled them, now just a cavernous space for schooling saithe to swirl through. It’s a dive that speaks to history buffs and those who appreciate the quiet, resilient beauty of a sunken ship. Definitely bring a good primary light and a backup; even on a bright day, the deeper sections of the wreck absorb the light.

    Safety Notes

Wreck site - avoid penetration without wreck diving certification. Watch for sharp metal and entanglement hazards.
