Water ranges 8-14°C, warmest July, August, September.
Scapa Flow has its share of big names, but we always make time for the Canmore 101814, despite its rather unromantic official title. This isn’t a German High Seas Fleet scuttling, but a victim of the 1918 naval minefield clearance, and that history feels palpable when you descend. You’ll find her broken, but still substantial, with the stern section our favourite part to explore. The structure offers fantastic swim-throughs for competent wreck divers, twisting past beams and plates that have become home to anemones and a surprising number of wrasse. Keep an eye out for inquisitive conger eels peeking from beneath twisted metal, and the occasional ling slinking past. We’ve had dives here where the visibility was a glorious 15 metres, letting the light filter through the superstructure, a truly atmospheric experience you won’t forget. It’s a compelling dive for those who appreciate history and the quiet colonisation of the sea.

Wreck site - avoid penetration without wreck diving certification. Watch for sharp metal and entanglement hazards.
