Wreck of Unnamed Shipwreck - Canmore 101817

Scapa Flow holds more than just the big names; sometimes it’s the smaller, unnamed wrecks that really stick with you. This particular wreck, known simply as Canmore 101817, is a prime example. We love how it feels like a secret, a contrast to the often bustling German fleet sites. Dropping down, the first thing that hits you is the sheer sense of history, the cold, dark water pressing in. It's a jumble of metal, twisted and broken, but incredibly atmospheric. You’ll find a surprising amount to explore here, poking around the various sections. There are often conger eels tucked into crevices, their heads peering out, and we’ve seen some seriously chunky wrasse patrolling the perimeter. The structure itself, while not a complete ship, offers enough intact sections to give you a real sense of its past life. We’d suggest a good dive light to really pick out the details, as the ambient light can be quite low, even on a bright day. This site suits divers who appreciate the quiet contemplation of history, away from the crowds, and who get a kick out of discovering smaller, less-documented pieces of Scapa Flow's incredible underwater museum.
