Wreck of Unnamed Shipwreck - Canmore 101855 - Scapa Flow, Orkney

This isn't one of Scapa Flow's famous battleship wrecks, and that's exactly why we love it. The Unnamed Shipwreck, Canmore 102188, offers a completely different vibe, more intimate and less picked over. You'll drop onto a jumble of metal, what's left of a smaller vessel, now wonderfully encrusted. Our favourite part is navigating through the collapsed superstructure, imagining the ship's original layout as you go. Jewel anemones add pops of colour everywhere, like tiny stained-glass windows against the darker steel. We've seen some impressively large Atlantic cod here, often lurking in the deeper, shadowy sections, alongside feathery shore feather duster worms waving gently in the mild current. It’s a dive for those who appreciate the history woven into the seabed, the quiet beauty of a wreck reclaimed by the sea. Visibility can be typical for Scapa, so bringing a good torch to really pick out the details is a solid plan.
