We’ve spent a lot of time in Scapa Flow, and honestly, the sheer volume of history here is what keeps us coming back. The Unnamed Shipwreck, known by its Canmore ID, is one of those sites that just oozes atmosphere. Descending onto this one, you really feel the chill of the North Sea, but the visibility often surprises you – sometimes pushing 15 metres, which is grand for these parts. We love how the wreck structure, though not massive, provides a fantastic habitat. Look for those fat wolf fish tucked into crevices, their teeth gleaming if you catch them just right. The way the light filters through the kelp, making the metal glow a dull green, is just something else. It’s a dive for those who appreciate the quiet drama of history underwater, rather than flashy corals. Best explored on a slack tide, otherwise, the current can make navigating the already low visibility a bit of a challenge.

    Safety Notes

Wreck site - avoid penetration without wreck diving certification. Watch for sharp metal and entanglement hazards.

Cold water this month (avg 13°C). Drysuit or thick wetsuit (7mm+) recommended.
