While the big German fleet wrecks get all the attention, we love the lesser-known sites, and the Unnamed Shipwreck, Canmore 102185, is a real favourite. It's not about the colossal size, but the intimacy, the way the history feels almost within reach. Dropping onto the deck, you’ll often find yourself eye-level with curious common shore crabs scuttling over corroded metal, or a delicate shore feather duster worm unfurling from a crack in the hull. The wreck itself feels like a skeleton, picked clean but still formidable. We enjoy navigating the collapsed holds, where the light filters down in shifting patterns, illuminating patches of pale lucina clinging to the steel. Keep an eye out for common dragonets darting between the plates. It’s a site that rewards a slow, methodical exploration, allowing you to absorb the quiet power of a vessel swallowed by the sea. This isn’t a dive for ticking off giant pelagics, but for divers who appreciate history, atmosphere, and the subtle beauty of marine life reclaiming human structures.
