Diving the Unnamed Shipwreck, Canmore 102199, is classic Scapa Flow. We're talking a proper, evocative piece of history resting on the seabed. It’s not one of the famous German giants, but that's exactly why we love it. You often get it to yourselves. Dropping down, the visibility can range from a murky ten feet to a surprisingly clear twenty, depending on the tide. Our favourite aspect is the way the metal structure, probably a fishing vessel or a small freighter, has completely surrendered to the marine life. Conger eels are practically residents here, peering out from every nook and cranny. You’ll spot poor cod darting amongst the twisted metal, and the whole wreck is encrusted with acorn barnacles and various anemones. Keep an eye out for the Masked crabs, they’re always a treat. Exploring the holds and deck features, now draped in kelp and sea squirts, offers a real sense of adventure. It’s a dive for those who appreciate the quiet beauty of a wreck reclaimed by the sea, rather than just its historical significance. We’d suggest diving this one on a slack tide for the best experience.
