Wreck of Unnamed Shipwreck - Canmore 102286 - Scapa Flow, Orkney

There’s something deeply satisfying about diving a truly unnamed wreck, especially in Scapa Flow. This particular site, Canmore 102204, is one of our favourites for just that reason. You’re not ticking off a famous name; you’re exploring history. The wreck itself is pretty broken up, scattered across the seabed, which we think adds to its appeal. It feels more like an archaeological dig than a formal ship. We love finning slowly over the spread of metal, imagining the ship’s original form. Keep an eye out for the details – a bolted plate here, a twisted girder there. The marine life here is quite surprising. You’ll spot nudibranchs tucked into crevices and the occasional butterfish darting through the wreckage. Large colonies of light-bulb sea squirts often coat the surfaces, glowing faintly in the torchlight. We’d suggest a dive when the sun is high for the best ambient light penetration, giving those colours a real pop. It's a dive that rewards curiosity, perfect for those who enjoy piecing together a story from the seabed.
