Wreck of Unnamed Shipwreck - Canmore 102889 - Scapa Flow, Orkney

Scapa Flow’s a big place, and sometimes the smaller, less heralded wrecks are our favourite. Take Canmore 102889, for instance. It’s not a battleship, not some hulking liner, but an unnamed vessel, a casualty of time and the Flow’s infamous history. What you get here is pure, unadulterated wreck diving – a chance to really explore something that feels forgotten. We love the way this wreck has become part of the seabed, almost a natural extension of the rocky bottom. It’s a jumble of twisted metal, plates peeled back like tin cans, giving you plenty of swim-throughs and hidden nooks to poke your head into. Keep an eye out for the plumose anemones, their white frills swaying gently in the subtle current, and the often surprisingly large lobsters tucked into any available crevice. It’s a fantastic site for photographers looking for that moody, atmospheric shot, or for divers who appreciate the quiet history beneath the waves. Best dived on a slack tide, obviously, to really appreciate the details without being swept along.
