Wreck of Unnamed Shipwreck - Canmore 102911

The Wreck of Unnamed Shipwreck, known locally as Canmore 102911, sits quietly in Scapa Flow. While its official identity remains a mystery, we find its anonymity adds to the allure. Descending onto this site, you're greeted by a hulking shadow, its structure draped in kelp and alive with current-swept anemones. The real joy here is the penetration, if conditions allow and you've got the right training. Exploring the interior, torches cut through the gloom, revealing the ghosts of its past, perhaps an engine room or cargo hold. We love the feeling of swimming through history, the metalwork a testament to a bygone era, now completely reclaimed by the sea. Look for the nudibranchs tucked into crevices and the blennies darting from behind rusted plates. This is a dive for those who appreciate the slower pace of wreck exploration, where observation trumps speed. Our favourite time to dive it is on a slack tide, when the water settles and visibility can stretch to a decent 10-15 metres, allowing you to really appreciate the scale of the wreck. It's not about big pelagics here, it's about the intricate details and the quiet beauty of a forgotten ship.
