Wreck of Unnamed Shipwreck - Canmore 102917 - Scapa Flow, Orkney

Don’t let the “Unnamed Shipwreck” tag fool you, this site is pure Scapa Flow magic. We love diving a wreck that feels truly forgotten, and this one, sitting mostly intact on the seabed, delivers. Dropping down, the visibility in Scapa can sometimes be a bit moody, but when it clears, the scale of this vessel is impressive. It’s not just a pile of rubble; you can make out the structure, the ribs and plating, all draped in kelp and sea squirts. Our favourite spots are often near the bow, where the light filtering through the green water gives it an ethereal glow. Look closely in the nooks and crannies for poor cod and snake blennies, tucked away amongst the wreckage. You'll often see common lobsters peering out from under plates of steel. This dive suits those who appreciate the history woven into the fabric of these sunken ships, and who don't mind a bit of a low-light exploration. It’s a quiet, reflective dive, perfect for just soaking in the atmosphere of Scapa Flow.
