The Unnamed Shipwreck, Canmore 102917, is one of Scapa Flow’s quieter moments, a contrast to the behemoths nearby. We’ve always appreciated dives here for their intimacy. Dropping down, you’ll find sections of hull plating and machinery spread across the seabed, often draped in long strands of kelp that wave gently in the surge. It feels ancient, with the metal slowly dissolving back into the sea. Our favourite part is the way the light filters through the kelp forest above, dappling the wreck in shifting patterns of green and grey. This site suits divers who appreciate historical context over massive structures. Explore the scattered remains, poke around the nooks and crannies where wrasse and blennies have made their homes. The visibility can be quite good here, especially on a slack tide, allowing for a proper sense of the wreck’s layout.
