Wreck of Unnamed Shipwreck - Canmore 102925 - Scapa Flow, Orkney

This unnamed wreck, Canmore 102925, isn’t one of Scapa Flow’s celebrated giants, but we love it precisely for its quiet charm. It’s a smaller, more intimate dive, perfect for when you want to escape the crowds that sometimes flock to the big German battleships. Lying relatively intact, you can still trace the outline of its hull, its ribs now encrusted with dead man's fingers and colourful anemones. We’d suggest exploring the stern first. You’ll often find conger eels peering from dark recesses, their eyes reflecting your torchlight. The bow section, though more broken, hosts plump ballan wrasse darting between twisted metal plates. Visibility here can be surprisingly good on a calm day, especially with a slack tide, letting the ambient light filter down and illuminate the vibrant growth. It’s a dive that rewards slow exploration, a chance to connect with a piece of history that’s quietly transforming into a living reef.
