Wreck of Unnamed Shipwreck - Canmore 102930 - Scapa Flow, Orkney

The "Unnamed Shipwreck" in Scapa Flow, also known by its Canmore designation, is a site we really appreciate for its quiet character. It's not one of the famous German High Seas Fleet giants, but that's precisely what makes it special. We’ve finned over this wreck multiple times and always find something new. What you get here is a sense of mystery – a hull shape, some structural elements, but largely flattened and becoming part of the seabed. It’s the perfect dive for those days when the bigger wrecks are busy, or when you just want a more contemplative exploration. Look closely at the metalwork, and you’ll spot plumose anemones, their white tentacles swaying gently in the subtle currents, along with plenty of small wrasse darting in and out. The water here often has that cool, green Orkney hue, filtering the light in a way that truly evokes the history. It’s a gentle dive, good for extended bottom times, letting you properly soak in the atmosphere. Our favourite way to dive it is slowly, allowing your eyes to adjust, appreciating the transformation from ship to reef.
