Alright, Scapa Flow. There's a reason we keep coming back. Forget the big German battleships for a moment. Head over to the Unnamed Shipwreck, Canmore 102942. This isn’t a leviathan, but it's got character. We love how the metal has softened over time, draped in dead man's fingers and anemones. You descend into that unmistakable green gloom of Scapa, and suddenly, the outline emerges. It’s a shallower dive, which means more bottom time to really nose around. You’ll find schools of small pollack darting through the superstructure, and if you look closely amongst the plates, wrasse peer out. Our favourite is exploring the various nooks and crannies. It’s not about grand scale here; it's about the intimate details, the way the light filters through a collapsed section, illuminating a solitary sea urchin. We'd suggest aiming for a slack tide, if you can time it, just to make poking about that bit easier. It’s a cracker of a dive for those who appreciate the smaller stories within Scapa’s vast history.
