Forget the big names for a minute. The Unnamed Shipwreck, Canmore 102984, might not have the same fanfare as some of Scapa Flow’s celebrated giants, but it absolutely holds its own. We’ve spent many a dive exploring this one, and every time we come up buzzing. It’s a proper 'peel back the layers' kind of dive; you’ll find sections of hull plating draped in dead man's fingers, the colours a shock of orange and purple against the steel. What we love about this wreck is the way it feels like an archaeological dig as much as a dive. There are still parts that feel relatively unexplored, offering that thrill of discovery. Look out for the resident wrasse darting between the frames, and the occasional ling peeking from a dark corner. Our favourite time to dive it is on a calm, overcast day; the ambient light filtering through the Orkney green water really brings out the textures of the growth. It’s a great choice for divers who appreciate history and don't mind a bit of a search, rather than just cruising past a massive structure.

    Safety Notes

Wreck site - avoid penetration without wreck diving certification. Watch for sharp metal and entanglement hazards.

Cold water this month (avg 13°C). Drysuit or thick wetsuit (7mm+) recommended.
