Wreck of Unnamed Shipwreck - Canmore 103021 - Scapa Flow, Orkney

Scapa Flow always delivers, and even the unnamed wrecks hold their own. We love poking around Canmore 103021, a smaller, probably older vessel that feels more like an archaeological dig than some of the bigger warships. You’ll descend into that familiar Scapa green, and as your eyes adjust, the dark shape of the hull emerges. The structure is well-broken, making for easy penetration into collapsed sections, offering glimpses of internal machinery. We’ve spotted some hefty conger eels here, tucked deep in the gloom, and the metalwork is heavily encrusted with soft corals and anemones, lending a surprising splash of colour to the monochrome steel. Our favourite bit is following the line of the prop shaft out to the stern, where the stern frame is still quite defined, often with a cheeky wrasse or two darting about. This site is brilliant for divers who appreciate the history and the intimate details of a wreck without the overwhelming scale of a battleship. Keep an eye on the tide, as currents can pick up, especially near the stern.
