ZENITH - Scapa Flow, Orkney

Zenith is a Scapa Flow newcomer, a 50-metre trawler sunk deliberately in 2018 to become a dive site. We love the feeling of exploring something relatively fresh, watching the marine life slowly claim it. Dropping to 43 metres, she sits upright and mostly intact on the seabed, a surprisingly large shadow emerging from the green. You can easily spend an entire dive penetrating the wheelhouse, the hold, and the engine room, though some of the interior access points are tight. Look out for the resident wrasse and crabs that have already moved in, darting between the deck machinery and the developing anemone colonies. Visibility here can swing wildly, so pick a day with lighter winds and an incoming tide if you can. Zenith is fantastic for those who appreciate wreck penetration and enjoy seeing how quickly the ocean reclaims its own.
