Wreck of Emblem - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The Emblem wreck off the Scottish East Coast is less about coral gardens and more about the raw history of the North Sea. We love sites where the story of the vessel is almost as clear as the structure itself. Dropping onto her, often in a decent current, you’ll find her broken, but still very much a ship, her plates peeled back like tin cans. It’s the kind of dive where you feel the cold embrace of the deep, a proper adventure. What makes Emblem special for us is the sheer size and how much you can still piece together: the bow pointing into the gloom, the stern section with its prop shaft still visible. Look for the resident conger eels, thick as a diver's thigh, peering from dark crevices, and the dense shoals of coalfish that shimmer around the twisted metal, often so numerous they obscure parts of the wreck. It’s a dive that rewards good buoyancy and a keen eye for detail, perfect for experienced wreck divers who appreciate the atmospheric pull of a historical site over pristine visibility. Our favourite time to dive it is on a calm, slack tide, when you can really take your time to explore the deeper sections without fighting the push.
