If you’re looking to go pro, this is a solid choice for an IDC, and we'd argue it’s one of the best spots in the region to truly learn the craft of instructing. While the waters of Québec might not have the coral reefs of the tropics, what you get here is pure, unadulterated diving skill development. The local sites, over 200 of them, are mostly quarries and lakes, with surprisingly clear visibility during the colder months, often 10-15 metres. We love the challenge of freshwater diving here – you learn buoyancy control in a big way. Expect cooler temperatures, so a drysuit course isn't just an option, it's pretty much essential. Our favourite part? The lack of current means you can really focus on tasks, and the instructors are excellent at picking up on little technique tweaks that make a big difference. They’re no-nonsense, but always supportive.
