Lillie Parsons (Wrack) - Québec

Lillie Parsons is one of those wrecks that really pulls you in. It’s a wooden schooner, pretty much intact, resting gently on her side in theky depths of the St. Lawrence River. We love the way the light filters down, creating these shifting patterns on the deck, and you can almost hear the creak of timber from when she sailed. The stern is our favourite part to explore, with the rudder still there, and the bowsprit pointing out into the current like she’s ready to set sail again. Inside, if you’re comfortable with overhead environments, you can fin through the cargo holds where the occasional pike or longnose gar now lurks, sleek and unbothered. Schools of golden shiners often shimmer over the deck planks, catching the light as they dart amongst the ribs of the hull. It’s a cold water dive, so good drysuit skills are a must, and visibility can vary, but on a good day, the historical feel of the place is just incredible. This is a dive for those who appreciate history and the quiet beauty of a wreck reclaimed by the river.
