Niagara II (sandsucker) - Québec

The Niagara II is one of those wrecks we keep coming back to. We’re talking about a purpose-sunk sandsucker, sitting upright at 25 metres, and it’s a genuinely engaging dive. You drop down, and the sheer size of the thing hits you – she’s pretty intact, especially the wheelhouse, which is our favourite part to poke around. You can swim through various compartments, the holds are open, and it feels like a proper exploration without being overly challenging. What we really love here is how the local fish have made it their own. We’ve seen big schools of Yellow Perch hanging in the shadows, and you’ll often find Burbot lurking in the darker corners. Keep an eye out for Mottled Sculpin camouflaged on the hull plates. It’s a great site for divers who appreciate wreck penetration and aren’t afraid of a bit of chill. Visibility can vary, but on a good day, the structure feels endless. We’d suggest a drysuit, even in summer; it’s Québec, after all. Plan for a decent bottom time, because there’s a lot to see.
