With 177+ marine species recorded in the area - including barracuda, bull sharks, dolphins, eagle rays and nurse sharks - Chac Mool Cenote offers some of Cozumel's richest cenote diving. Water ranges 27-30°C, warmest August, September, October.
Chac Mool offers classic cenote diving, with two chambers connected by a large opening that lets in plenty of ambient light. We found the stalactites and stalagmites impressive, along with some good halocline effects. This is a solid pick for divers keen to experience a cavern dive without venturing into full cave systems. Expect easy conditions and clear water.
