With 177+ marine species recorded in the area - including barracuda, bull sharks, dolphins, eagle rays and nurse sharks - Esquela offers some of Cozumel's richest diving. Water ranges 27-30°C, warmest August, September, October.
Esquela, Spanish for "school," often delivers on its name with large aggregations of schooling fish. Look for snapper and grunts hanging in the current, especially around the deeper sections of the reef. It’s a decent drift, not too challenging, and good for divers comfortable with a moderate current who enjoy watching fish move en masse. Visibility here is typically excellent, making for some nice wide-angle shots.
