San Jose Divers - Sea of Cortez
The team at San Jose Divers are the kind of people you want to spend a day on a boat with. They run a tight ship from their base in San José del Cabo, focusing on getting you to the best spots in the Lower Sea of Cortez. We love their smaller boat trips, which feel much more personal than some of the larger operations in the area, meaning more time actually diving and less waiting around. They really know the local sites, from the sea lion colony at Los Islotes, where the pups playfully tug at your fins, to the deep walls of El Bajo, often visited by schooling hammerheads in the right season. Our favourite thing to do with them is an early morning two-tank trip out to Gordo Banks; the thermocline can be a bit bracing, but the chance of seeing a schooling mobula ray migration is worth the chill. They’re PADI-focused, so it's a solid choice if you’re looking to get certified or just want some guided fun dives with an experienced crew who genuinely enjoy what they do.
