Cenote Dream Gate - Yucatán Cenotes

Gibson Bight is one of those Roatán sites we always try to hit, especially when the current's just right. You drop onto a sandy slope that funnels you gently towards the main event: a proper wall that plummets down past 22 metres. We love how the wall is riddled with overhangs and little caves, perfect for poking around with your torch. Look for those tiny Imitator Blennies darting in and out of the coral, and we've often seen the Kulkulcan Cone snails slowly making their way across the sponges. Our favourite part is often the top of the reef, where the shallows are thick with schooling Cardinal Soldierfish and Yellowhead Wrasses. Keep an eye out for a Spotted Eagle Ray gliding by in the blue, though they're usually just a fleeting shadow. It's a great dive for anyone who enjoys a gentle drift along a healthy wall, with plenty of nooks to investigate.
